The ring-opening polymerization mechanism of lactide in the presence of hydroxyl compounds was studied by using ferric ethoxide and ferric n-butoxide as catalysts respectively.
Synthesis of isoamyl formate, isoamyl acetate, isoamyl propionate, isoamyl butyrate, isoamyl isobutyrate and isoamyl isovalerate by catalysis of hydrated ferric chloride are reported.
At first, the extra oxygen they produced didn't accumulate in the atmosphere, but combined with iron to form ferric oxides, which sank to the bottom of primitive seas.
