The owners of the huge vessel, White Star Line, had said the ship was " designed to be unsinkable" but people interpreted this as proof that it was completely invincible.
That's why the crew intentionally ran the USS Nevada aground to save the ship but its survival is only part of the reason why this was known as the unsinkable battleship.
While two of these ships sank, they were all designed with double hulls believed to make them " unsinkable" , perhaps a mistaken idea that led to the Titanic's and the Britannic's tragic end.
On the night of April 14th when the so called unsinkable ship hit the iceberg that caused it to sink, Titanic was on its maiden voyage from the United Kingdom to the United States.
